My inspiration behind this piece
This piece was created in honor of the plant kingdom, and of all of the different medicines that She offers us.
Much of my work is inspired by the intelligence and wisdom of the non-human world.
I believe that our biggest mistake as the human species is thinking that we are the ones that “know”, when in reality, so much of what we perceive is actually a fabricated construct that removes us from the Reality of what is actually there.
And I believe that the plant kingdom, along with the various plant medicines, are important teachers that help us to see beyond our fabricated human construct.
Now, when I refer to “plant medicines” I am not only referring to visionary medicines like Ayahuasca, Iboga, Peyote, etc… but also referring to the various medicinal herbs that we use to heal the human vessel, because I believe that the plant kingdom as a whole is one of our greatest allies in bringing humanity back into balance with Creation.
We can even see the architectural expression of Light through the geometry of plants – through the bright and epic bloom of a sunflower, reminisce of an ancient Tibetan Mandala rising triumphantly from the Earth, through the fragile and feathered leaves of a cannabis plant, and through the delicate kingdom of fractals within the intricate constellation of a yarrow bloom.
Their very geometry is an entryway into the kingdom the Light.
And this isn’t even to mention the healing aromas that so many of these medicines gift to us.
Where I live, I am surrounded by a vast ocean of sagebrush out in the rural Northern New Mexican high-desert, and the cleansing and earthy perfume of the Sage is like a portal into a higher world, where you can even smell how the minerals of the earth merry the rainwater through the consciousness of the plant.
The plant is the child of Earth and Water, and the Sunlight is the Spirit behind its form.
Every aspect of a plant – from its form, to its color, to its aroma point us back to the Light from which it came.
Now, there are also the healing visionary medicines – Ayahuasca, Peyote, Iboga, San Pedro, etc.
These are the medicines that most directly help us to see beyond the fabricated construct that we, as a species, have made.
Each in their own unique way, they point us to another way of looking at ourselves and our relationship with everything around us.
Our consciousness blends with theirs as they unlock dormant corridors and pathways within our psyche, as well as dormant knowledge within our very genetic structure, which opens us into a deeper remembrance of our union with the whole of Creation.
And of course, we never want to be dependent on such medicines, but used with responsibility, honor, and respect, they can be powerful teachers in introducing us to what is beyond the veil of what we have made.
So this piece was painted in honor of the plant kingdom, and all of Her diverse medicines, and in honor of all of the ways that She teaches us.
In the center of the arch we see a purple figure with another green figure rising from its head.
The purple figure symbolizes humanity, while the green figure represents the plant kingdom, or Grandmother.
Grandmother is depicted as an extension of the human form to symbolize the shared consciousness that we have with Her. She is depicted with outstretched vines and branches with colored stained glass between them, representing the cathedral-like quality of her sacredness and wisdom, as an archetypal expression of the Divine Mother.
The two blue beings giving praise on either side of the central figure have halos with trees extending from them, to represent their shared oneness with the Grandmother.
On the bottom right and left panels of the image, you will see figures holding hands as their individual halos merge into one golden figure above them. This represents the Higher Universal Mind that we are all connected to – or the Mind of Spirit, or God.
So this piece was created in honor of the plant kingdom, as being a profound teacher in helping us to see beyond the fabricated web of human projection that veils us from the True Reality that is actually there.
Thank you to all of the medicines, and to all of the stewards of these medicines, for the important and invaluable role that you play in reconnecting humanity with what is actually Real.
